Once upon a time there was a mousepad.

The mousepad lived on the desk of a princess. One day the princess bought a new computer. A nice and shiny MacBook. And with that MacBook she also bought a new mouse.

Unfortunately, the mousepad and mouse did not get along.
The princess tried everything to make them get along but nothing worked. While sitting on her bed, frustrated, the princess noticed that her mouse seemed to get along wonderfully with her mattress. “Hmmm”, thought the princess, “what if I MAKE a mousepad with fabric and batting.” She scoured the castle looking for supplies to create her very own mousepad. Luckily, she found on old plaque with a poem in the yard sale pile, plenty of batting and some funky fabric to cover it all with.

First, she covered the plaque with a few layers of batting. She stretched the batting to the back and stapled it in place.
Then she cut the fabric a little bigger than the plaque. She made sure she had enough around the whole plaque to be able to stretch the fabric to the back for a smooth surface. She then stapled the fabric into place.
However, not all was well in the kingdom. Alas, when the princess practiced moving her mouse along the mousepad, the mousepad moved with the mouse.
Suddenly the princess remembered she had leftover grippy-fabric from when she cut a large piece for the royal dining room table. She then cut a piece just a wee bit smaller than her new mousepad and glued it on.
The mouse and the mousepad lived happily ever after.

The moral of the story? The princess loves to repurpose stuff!
And yes, I am SO totally a princess! {Grin}
